Exam Welfare Package

Hello SCE-ians,

Be reminded that we’re going to have our Exam Welfare Package soon.

In case u forget or deleted the mail, here is the details:

  • Date : 5th November 2009
  • Time : 11.30-14.30
  • Venue : In Front of SCE General Office

Bring your Matriculation Card and make sure that you come on that day since we’re also going to provide you with Free Upgrade to Windows 7. Brought to you by our Microsoft Student Partner.

Please note that we only provide you with upgrade, we will not backup your personal data. So make sure your laptop is ready for installation on that day.

Upgrading to Windows 7 (Backup Data)

For Easy Manual on how you back up your data, please read this following instruction carefully:

General Guideline

Firstly, you can download and run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check whether your hardware support Windows 7.

For XP Users

(All XP version, included Vista-Basic & Vista-Home)

Since there is no direct upgrade option from Windows XP to Windows 7, you’ll have to manually back up your data before installing Windows 7. Make sure you have installers and product keys of your important softwares.

You can manually back up your data to an external media or let a software to do that for you:

  1. Download Windows Easy Transfer from If you want to check your operating system bit number:
    1. Right click on My Computer → Properties
    2. Check the System Type value

  2. Install and run Windows Easy Transfer
    You can transfer data using an Easy Transfer Cable, removable media, or across a network. You can find out the video tutorial here.

For Vista users

(Vista-Business, Vista-Professional, Vista-Ultimate)

Although you can upgrade directly to Windows 7, the best guideline recommends you to back up your data.

You can manually back up your data to an external media or let a software to do that for you:
